On his new album, Australia’s ‘Prince of the Violin’, Patrick Roberts pays tribute to the beloved music of soft rock legends Air Supply. All Out of Love reimagines Air Supply’s timeless songs on classical violin – sometimes with orchestra, sometimes with piano, but always with an outpouring of emotion. Iconic hits ‘Even the Nights Are Better’, ‘All Out of Love’ and ‘Making Love Out of Nothing at All’, plus covers of beloved favourites ‘Unchained Melody’ and ‘Without You’ (made famous by Mariah Carey) make this an album packed full of beautiful new versions classic tunes.

For this somewhat obscure Chick Corea LP, the pianist teams up with flutist Steve Kujala for a set of duets. Together they perform three of Corea's lesser-known originals along with two melodic free improvisations.

Pianist Chick Corea had a reunion with bassist Miroslav Vitous and drummer Roy Haynes for this double LP, 13 years after they had recorded Now He Sings, Now He Sobs. The first half of this two-fer consists of duet and trio free improvisations and is sometimes a touch lightweight even with moments of interest; playing free was not as natural to Corea by this time as it had been in the '60s. However, the second album, seven Thelonious Monk compositions, comes across quite well as Corea does justice to the spirit of Monk without losing his own strong musical personality.

Maurizio Baglini (born 1975 in Pisa), is an Italian pianist. Prizewinner in major international piano competitions such as Concorso Busoni in Bolzano, Fryderyk Chopin Competition, he subsequently was awarded the 1998 William Kapell Competition's 3rd prize in Maryland, and 1999, aged only 24, he won the World Music Piano Master in Montecarlo.

Boccherini enjoyed enormous popularity during his lifetime thanks to music that emphasized rich melody, instrumental vibrancy and disarming beauty. He chose the intimacy of a chamber music setting for his Stabat Mater, writing for a solo soprano and string quintet with the instrumental textures weaving the fabric of the text’s meaning. The result is passionate music with power, depth and pathos. As a virtuoso cellist, he was perfectly placed to write chamber music. In the Quartet, Op. 52, No. 3, a colourful tapestry of contrasting events frames moments of bucolic excitement and lyric interlude, while the expertly structured Quintet, Op. 42, No. 1 directly evokes the Stabat Mater in its themes.

Joseph Marx’s distinctive style is characterized in these songs by dazzling, colourful harmonies and a remarkable melodic richness that, coupled with his sensitive setting of the texts, results in some of the composer’s finest works for voice and orchestra. Recurring themes of love and longing are encapsulated in one of Marx’s earliest songs, ‘Hat dich die Liebe beruhrt’, and moods of cheerful serenity, profound earnestness and amusing operetta-like lightness are all explored elsewhere. This programme of premiere recordings includes the cycle Verklartes Jahr, a high point in Marx’s vocal oeuvre, and the intoxicating expression of his love for Italy in ‘Auf der Campagna.’
