Tedeschi Trucks Band invite you to experience I AM THE MOON, an expansive, inspired, and ambitious musical journey that propels the treasured American ensemble into new and thrilling creative territory.
During the pandemic and its corresponding isolation, Tedeschi Trucks Band, one of the music’s most admired and successful live music draws, was searching for something to hold on to; a way to connect to each other and their craft. They had come off a triumphant performance of Derek and the Dominoes’ classic Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs with Trey Anastasio at the LOCKN’ Festival, which subsequently led to the release of the band’s acclaimed live album, last summer’s Layla: Revisited. Looking for an idea, TTB vocalist Mike Mattison turned to Layla’s rich source material for inspiration: Layla and Majnun, the legendary ninety-page narrative poem of star-crossed lovers by 12th Century Sufi poet Nizami. As a writing exercise, Mattison challenged the group to delve into the poem’s deeper themes. As he pointed out, Clapton’s “Layla” only used one element of the poem - Majnun’s love-madness - whereas the poem itself contains multitudes: family drama, classism, isolation, judgment, and the severe cost of single-minded mania, even in the cause of love. (Indeed, Layla and Majnun is believed to be the inspiration behind Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet and many other eastern and western literary classics.)

On June 3rd, the GRAMMY-nominated six-piece Adam Deitch (drums), Ryan Zoidis (saxophone), Adam Shmeeans Smirnoff (guitar), Erick Jesus Coomes (bass), Nigel Hall (keyboards/vocals), Eric Benny Bloom (trumpet) will be delivering a whole host of new tunes to the world in the form of 'Unify,' the eighth studio album from Lettuce and the third consecutive record made at Denvers Colorado Sound Studios, completing a loose trilogy starting with 2019’s GRAMMY-nominated Elevate, and continuing with 2020s Resonate. Fans can expect the same tight, wildly-funky instrumentals Lettuce has always been known for, but in the tightest form they've ever taken.

This colourful journey across different times and places marks the first recording of Italian conductor Alessandro Crudele and the London Philharmonic Orchestra for Linn. At the helm of the flamboyant LPO the versatile conductor has recorded a compendium of programmatic works spanning the artistic life of Ottorino Respighi.Starting with one of his first masterpieces, the evocative and at times epic Pini di Roma is a botanical journey through Rome at different times of the day. The more impressionistic, travelogue Impressioni brasiliane, the result of a trip Respighi made in Brazil, is suffused with local music and culture and dates from the mature years of the composer. Much in the same vein, the late ballet Belkis, regina di Saba describes a mythological voyage this time; the little-known work recounts the Queen’s route across the desert to meet Solomon, King of Israel, with whom she is in love.

But that was not enough. He has finally re-invented, with its crossover albums conquered the rest of the world and sparked enthusiasm everywhere. The conductor and harpsichordist Bridget Cunningham brings back to life Handel’s pasticcio opera, Caio Fabbricio first performed in London in 1733 and based on an earlier opera by Johann Adolf Hasse (1732). Caio Fabbricio is London Early Opera’s eighth album in the prestigious Handel Series with Signum Records and is a pasticcio opera, a brilliant and well-considered collection of some of the finest 18th century Neapolitan arias by different composers, including Leonardo Vinci and Leonardo Leo, selected and arranged by Handel who composed his own dramatic recitatives.

The fifth and final volume in Universal's massive John Coltrane: The Impulse! Albums in the Originals series, contains five recordings, all issued posthumously between 1970 and 1973. Two of these, Transition and Sun Ship, feature Coltrane's classic quartet with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones. Of the remaining albums, two are live recordings – Live in Seattle and Concert in Japan – the remaining one being the infamous Infinity.

This session comes from close to the end of the line (1959) in the erstwhile swinging company of Barney Kessel on guitar, Ben Webster on tenor, and naysayers will be quick to point out that Lady Day wasn't in peak form here…

With Big Beautiful Dark and Scary, the Bang on a Can All-Stars show off their blazing speed, polyrhythmic virtuosity and all-world versatility in a return to the core Bang on a Can sound - an uncategorizable supermix of classical and electric instruments that is part classical ensemble, part rock band, and part jazz sextet. The album is the first in a decade that features the All-Stars exclusively, rather than as part of a collaborative project. Each of the pieces on the double-CD calls upon a different kind of virtuosity, demonstrating the range of musical abilities and experiences arguably unique to this ensemble. Recorded in New York City, all of the music on Big Beautiful Dark and Scary (including the arrangements of the works by Conlon Nancarrow) were written for and premiered by the Bang on a Can All-Stars.

Since the release of his 1997 major label debut Lie To Me, the then 16 year-old Lang has built a reputation as one of the best live performers and guitarists of his generation. It s been seven years since he released a new studio album but the wait is finally over. On September 17th, 2013 Lang will release Fight For My Soul the follow up to his 2006 GRAMMY Award-winning album Turn Around. Recorded over a period of three years, Lang collaborated with producer/songwriter Tommy Sims (who co-wrote Eric Clapton s GRAMMY-winning Change the World ) crafting the album s elegant rock n soul tracks from the ground up.

This CD has a wonderful mix of traditional and modern pipes and drum music. Everyone who hears it has their own favourite track, whatever their age. The musicians have proved the versatility of their talents.

1976 must have been a tough year for a British folk-rock group to get respect. Just ask Steeleye Span, whose Rocket Cottage was roundly blasted by the music press, and Fairport Convention, whose Gottle o' Geer was essentially ignored. Albion Country Band's Battle of the Field was belatedly released to an indifferent press who improperly regarded them as a grade-B rendition of Steeleye and Fairport. The growing buzz concerning the onslaught of punk rock didn't bode well even for the established folk-rock acts, much less those just getting started. So despite Spriguns' unfortunate timing (who released Jack With a Feather in 1975 as Spriguns of Tolgus) they held true to the style popularized by their more successful predecessors, particularly Steeleye Span, as songs like "Outlandish Knight" and "Sir Colvin" will reveal…
