God in Three Persons is a rock opera/concept album by The Residents, released in 1988. It was about a man 'Mr. X' and two conjoined twins. The songs are all sung in a rhythmic spoken word fashion, similar to talking blues. A companion soundtrack album, featuring most of the instrumental backing tracks, was also released. A central motif of the album is the organ riff from "Double Shot (Of My Baby's Love)" by 1960's frat rock band The Swingin' Medallions.

The German David Friedemann Strunck has been principal oboist of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra since 2004. Here he presents himself on the Norwegian label LAWO with little-known works for oboe and piano as a no less accomplished and expressive chamber musician, introducing some pieces with his own improvisations. The works range from the Romantic period to contemporary music.

Formed in the early 1970s, The Residents have been charting a unique path through the musical landscape for almost fifty years. From far-out, experimental recordings to highly conceptual, innovative multi-platform projects, the band refuses to stand still, and continues to move in several different directions at once.

Widespread Panic One of the many neo-hippie jam bands inheriting the road-warrior mantle left behind by the Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic established a devout grassroots following on the strength of constant touring and a loose, rootsy brand of Southern rock informed by jazz and blues textures. The group's origins date to 1982, when vocalist John Bell and guitarist Mike Houser first began playing together while attending college in Athens, Georgia. When bassist Dave Schools left academia to join the duo the next year, Widespread Panic were officially born.

He relentlessly toured America with the E-Street Band from May of that year until January 1st 1979, playing 115 intense shows that have become the stuff of legend. Santana Arriving at the twilight of the 1960s, Santana were psychedelic pioneers who ushered Latin rock into the mainstream with their first three albums: Santana, Abraxas, and Santana III. Thanks to their appearance at Woodstock, their eponymous album was a smash hit right out of the gate, with its single "Evil Ways" making it into the Billboard Top Ten in 1969. They remained at the top of the charts until 1973, when leader and namesake guitarist Carlos Santana began exploring esoteric, spiritual jazz fusion on his own. Carlos may have wandered away from the band who shared his name, but he always returned to the group, sustaining them through years both productive and fallow.

Bruce Springsteen once said he intended to make an album with words like Bob Dylan that sounded like Phil Spector with vocals like Roy Orbison's, a nifty summary of many, but not all, of his artistic ambitions and a key to his appeal. Unlike any other singer/songwriters saddled with the appellation of "the new Dylan" in the early '70s, Springsteen never hid how he was raised on '60s AM radio. He loved rock & roll, whether it was the initial blast from the '50s or the mini-symphonies from the days before the Beatles or the garage rockers that surfaced in the wake of the British Invasion, and all this could be heard within his wild, wooly collective E Street Band, a group who debuted on his second album, 1973's The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle, and who would support him throughout most of his career.

The Young Schumann, the new release by British pianist Charles Owen, is a musical narrative of Robert Schumann's early career, featuring works written in the 1830s when the composer was in his 20s. His first two published works, Abegg Variations and Papillons, the impetuous six Intermezzi, Op. 4, and the characterful Carnaval, Op. 9, are all fuelled by some of Schumann's compositional hallmarks: his imagination and attraction to the fantastical, his love of ciphers and cryptograms, and his frequent quoting of each work within the others.

Fathers, gods, philosophers, emperors, sorcerers … The bass voice is typically used on the opera stage to convey nobility and authority. Although it often represent the resting and pivotal point of an entire opera, and its depth, power, and softness were regularly highlighted already in the Baroque period, bass singers are usually not the focus of attention. In this recital specially tailored for Nahuel Di Pierro, the bass voice, accompanied by the Ensemble Diderot, takes center stage. Through a journey across 100 years of opera history, the program showcases the range and brilliance of compositions for this voice. With his spectacular vocal range of two and a half octaves, Nahuel Di Pierro interprets the great arias from Seneca's death to Polyphemus from Handel's Aci, Galatea e Polifemo with exceptional sensitivity and mastery. And it wouldn't be Johannes Pramsohler and his Ensemble Diderot if the program didn't also include some spectacular new discoveries.
