Mozart was just 14 years old when he composed Mitridate, re di Ponto, a noble opera seria based on a play by Racine. A great success at its premiere, it is only rarely staged today, so this 2016 performance, led by Emmanuelle Haïm at Paris’s Théâtre des Champs Elysées, was by definition a special occasion. The dazzlingly virtuosic cast is led by tenor Michael Spyres and sopranos Patricia Petibon and Sabine Devieilhe, while the intense modern staging is by Clément Hervieu-Léger, a resident director at France’s most illustrious theatre company, the Comédie Française.

Here is a collection of vintage blues tracks recorded between 1949 and 1957 all on the subject of money. All the major stars had something to say about the dollar or a lack of in their pocket either literally or metaphorically. John Lee Hooker's later version of his classic, 'House Rent Boogie' offers advice on how to pay your rent by throwing a party and charging admission and charging for drinks. Other great stars featured on this CD include Amos Milburn, Eddie Vinson, Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf.

Home In This World: Woody Guthrie’s Dust Bowl Ballads is an interpretation of Guthrie’s landmark 1940 album Dust Bowl Ballads. The album features an all-star cast, assembled by Randall Poster, that interpret the songs on the only non-compilation album of Guthrie’s career, including everyone from Grammy Award winners Lee Ann Womack and John Paul White to poet laureate Mark Lanegan and country and Americana star Lillie Mae, Shovels and Rope, mandolinist Chris Thile, Colter Wall, Watkins Family Hour, Waxahatchee, Lost Dog Street Band, The Felice Brothers, Secret Sisters, Swamp Dogg, and Parker Millsap.

One underrated highlight of the classic 1984 science fiction film The Terminator was the marvelous synthesizer score by Brad Fiedel. The original release of the soundtrack included six compositions by Fiedel, who once served as a keyboardist for Hall & Oates briefly in the mid-'70s. "Theme from The Terminator" is a spectacular piece of haunting synthesizer music; each layer is perfectly effective, especially the deceptively simple melody line. "Tunnel Chase" is bombastically chilling, while "Love Scene" is a soft, mournful piano-based version of the main theme; its bittersweet feel corresponds nicely to the pivotal scene that it supports. Fiedel's synthesizer work on "Factory Chase" is full of glassy squeals and scary bursts, and Ross Levinson adds touches of electric violin. The Terminator was reissued on CD in 1991 by DCC Compact Classics. The 1995 Definitive Edition includes Fiedel's complete score in 18 tracks, remastered in state-of-the-art 1990s digital audio, which lends itself especially well to synthesizer music. The 73-minute running time doubles the length of the original soundtrack release, and includes as a bonus track the "Judgement Day Remix" of "Theme from The Terminator." There's also extensive annotation on each track, and the whole package comprises some of the best science fiction-oriented film music of recent decades.

The return of Shadow Of Intent with their highly anticipated fourth studio album “Elegy” will happen on the 14th January 2022. Written and recorded at guitar player and producer Chris Wiseman’s studio in Beacon, New York and featuring guest vocals from Phil Bozeman of Whitechapel and Chuck Billy of Testament, it also sees them bringing back keyboard virtuoso Francesco Ferrini (Fleshgod Apocalypse) who has contributed additional arrangements to give a full cinematic experience to each song as he did on their hugely successful “Melancholy“. As if that wasn’t enough, the band’s new drummer Bryce Butler (The Faceless, Abigail Williams) teamed up with engineers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio (Rivers of Nihil, Lorna Shore, August Burns Red) to record live drums. Christian Donaldson also returns for mixing and mastering as well as artist by Pär Olofsson for album artwork.

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, (also known as Hotel Transylvania 4), is an upcoming American computer-animated monster comedy film produced by Sony Pictures Animation and released by Amazon Studios. Intended to be the fourth and final installment of the Hotel Transylvania franchise and the sequel to Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018), the film is directed by Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon from a screenplay by Amos Vernon, Nunzio Randazzo, and Genndy Tartakovsky (who directed the prior three films).

Multiple reed and brass player Scott Robinson journeyed to Prague in 2003 to reunite with his old Berklee classmate, Czech pianist Emil Viklicky, for this extraordinary record date. Though Robinson is well known for his work on baritone sax on dates by others, tenor sax is his favorite instrument and it is heard extensively on this date. With Viklicky's regular bassist (Frantisek Uhlir) and drummer Laco Tropp, they kick off with a striking rendition of "Summertime" that finds Robinson alternating between tenor sax and muted trumpet, with Viklicky darkening the mood by his compelling choice of chords…

"Enargeia" is an ancient Greek word meaning extreme vividness, the evocation of a visual scene. It's a bit hard to see how this applies in more than a general way to the program on mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo. She writes: "Each piece is part of a sonic journey, each track born out of the previous one as the listener is guided through a progression, a cohesive and exploratory listening experience." This being so, one wonders why the track ordering is different in the physical and at least some online presentations of the album, but these are minor complaints.

Ace's You Heard Them Here First: First Recordings by Famous or Influential Artists is more of an archaeology project than its companion disc, You Heard It Here First! That 2008 compilation featured the first recorded versions of pop, rock, and soul classics that became hits in the hands of other artists, whereas this set unearths the first recordings of superstars, so almost without exception neither the songs nor the names on the back cover of You Heard Them Here First are familiar, but the sounds often are. Some artists are heard in what would later become their familiar settings – Dan Penn does some wicked Southern soul as Danny Lee on "Stop Calling Me Baby," Gram Parsons' country-rock was fully intact in the International Submarine Band, and the only thing that separates the Byrds from the Beefeaters is their name – but You Heard Them Here First is at its most fun when it forces listeners to draw their own connections, to hear the incipient glam growl within David Bowie as he's singing "Liza Jane" as Davie Jones or to listen to Lewis Reed's "Your Love" and find Lou Reed testing out vocal phrasing he'd later do during the Velvet Underground's upbeat moments.

This is the first of two CD compilations coming from the Creative Music Studio's Woodstock Jazz Festival, a tenth-anniversary celebration for the upstate New York progressive "world music" study center of Karl Berger and friends, which took place during a stormy day on the Oehler Lodge Olympic soccer field next to the CMS studios, classrooms, and living quarters, on September 19, 1981. The day-long festival, organized by Jack DeJohnette and his wife Lydia as a benefit for CMS, captures the better portion of a dead-on tour de force presentation featuring Chick Corea on acoustic piano with drummer DeJohnette, bassist Miroslav Vitous, and duets with alto saxophonist Lee Konitz and Corea…

Singularity' is the third single from New Order's critically acclaimed hit album 'Music Complete'. The track has been highlighted as one of the standout tracks from the album and is now released as a single. Remixes are provided by Erol Alkan, Mark Reeder, JS Zeiter and Liars.
