The combination of clarinet, viola and piano has not been used much by composers throughout the ages, and the most representative works are on this recording. Featured on this fourth release of Oslo Philharmonic.

Ensemble Diderot continues to explore the development and dissemination of the trio sonata in baroque Europe with this exciting new release. This new release from the talented and critically acclaimed Ensemble Diderot and Johannes Pramsohler contains many premiere recordings. Entirely dedicated to works from the era after Lully’s death, this album celebrates the newly found freedom at the time when composers started to combine French style with transalpine ardour. Johannes Pramsohler and his musicians bring their usual precision, passion and energy to this programme packed with new discoveries.

"Flamenco and jazz are brothers,” says pianist Daniel García, one of the most exciting voices of the new generation of Spanish jazz. “They have some essential things in common: self-expression, a total engagement at the instant of making music, plus the deep experience of the moment". That is how he sums up what "Travesuras" is all about: Garcia has delved deeply into the music of his homeland and has combined influences from it with the vocabulary of the modern jazz piano trio. What emerges is music which is expressive, stands on its own terms, and in which rhythmic intensity is allied with melodic richness, harmonic finesse and exceptional virtuosity.

Cincinnati, Ohio! Prog! Not exactly what you would expect. Which explains the faint signal emanating from this town, a thoroughly modern approach to drama-laced heavy prog, as practiced by Porcupine Tree, Rush, Haken, Queensryche, Nemo, Anathema as well as hints of the legendary Blue Oyster Cult etc'. Curiously though, it's a duo that tackles all the instrumentation and vocals, namely the gifted Henri Eisenbaum on guitars, keys, vocals and percussion as well as Randy Campell on vocals, bass, pedals and keys, aided by some guests. The somber cover art conveys the style of the music perfectly, sonically black and white with shimmering bolts of silver judiciously inserted for maximum effect.
