'Heaven on my mind' is the fifth album by the Yuri Honing Acoustic Quartet and will be released in September 2023 for Challenge records. After the thematic albums 'True' (2012 inspired by Berlin and David Bowie). 'Desire' (2015, an instrumental opera about longing), 'Goldbrun' (2017 a homage to Europe and Honing's interest in European art music) and 'Bluebeard' (2020, a dark album mainly inspired by the 300-year-old fairy tale of the same name), there is now 'Heaven on my mind'.

The Swiss pianist and composer, Thierry Lang, was born on the 16th December 1956 in the small town of Romont in the canton of Fribourg. He started learning piano at the age of 5 and by 7 years old had decided to make piano his career. He excelled in classical piano studies until the age of 21 while at the same time developing a passion for jazz.

Handel's Dixit Dominus HWV 232 (1707) is certainly one of the most impressive compositions of his several years in Italy. With this extremely effective piece, the only 22-year-old obviously wanted to demonstrate all of his compositional skills. Il Gardellino and Bart Van Reyn accompany him on their recording with the breathtaking cantata Il Pianto di Maria, which was long attributed to Handel until recent research has shown that it was penned by the Italian composer Giovanni Battista Ferrandini (1710-1791).

"One" is the debut full-length studio album by UK progressive rock act Cirkus. Formed from the ashes of bands Moonhead and Lucas Tyson, the group's high standard of musicianship was well known in their native north-east where they attracted much attention and had a devoted following. It was felt that the quintet could achieve success on a national scale, provided management handled matters properly and they got the right breaks. In 1973 they recorded their debut album "Cirkus One" at Sound Associates/Emison & Air Studios and just 1000 copies were pressed up. It is widely regarded by many collectors today as the most musically accomplished private pressing of its kind to emerge out of the UK's then burgeoning progressive music scene, influenced by KING CRIMSON and YES.

J.S. Bach completed his six suites for solo cello in 1723. Since then, these works have become pillars of the repertoire, influencing many of the 20th century’s works for the instrument. This recording project is a celebration of the 300th anniversary of the completion of the suites and of their far reaching impact on composers of our time. In addition to recording all of the suites, Erica Wise has commissioned six short works for solo cello, each inspired by Bach and his work.

Two world premiere recordings on the new album «Swiss Treasures» by the Portugal-based Art’Ventus Quintet: The Wind Quintet by Peter Mieg (1906-1990) from 1970 and «Adagio und Scherzino» (1963) by Paul Huber (1918-2001). In addition, there is the Quintet op. 84 by Paul Juon (1872-1940) and the highly original Divertimento for Wind Quintet op. 69 (1977) by the Graubünden composer Gion Antoni Derungs (1935-2012).

Blues-based hard rock combo Box of Frogs reunited guitarist Chris Dreja, bassist Paul Samwell-Smith, and drummer Jim McCarty, all three founding members of the famed Yardbirds. The trio re-teamed for the first time since the Yardbirds' mid-1968 dissolution to play a 1983 live date at the London Marquee, and the performance proved so successful that they soon founded Box of Frogs with vocalist John Fiddler, formerly of Medicine Head and British Lions. Fellow Yardbirds alum Jeff Beck guested on several tracks on the group's self-titled 1984 LP, with Jimmy Page appearing on the 1986 follow-up Strange Land. Box of Frogs disbanded soon after.

This special set of studio recordings, the first ones to be issued since 2004, gathers up fifteen outtakes from eight different sessions, including two songs from as far back as March 1987 (before the actual formation of the Rhythm Kings). These previously overlooked and unheard gems have been newly mixed for this album by Bill Wyman and Terry Taylor. The booklet contains all the musician credits. It's a very eclectic selection of songs, from Midnight Oil to Canned Heat to Dan Hicks, via classics by Willie Dixon, Slim Harpo, Jimmie Rodgers, Louis Jordan and Don Covay, and some originals - there's a solo song by Georgie Fame, "Skiing Blues", and "Jazz Walk", a Wyman/Fame co-write. Bill Wyman put together his ten-piece Rhythm Kings ensemble after leaving the Rolling Stones in 1992. The band has a core rhythm section, but features a revolving combination of all-star guest front men and women. These recordings feature the talents of Gary Brooker, Georgie Fame, Beverley Skeete, Terry Taylor, Mike Sanchez, Andy Fairweather Low, Martin Taylor, Chris Stainton and Albert Lee.

Collecting five CDs for about the price of three, this set of Boulez recordings is without parallel among the conductor's new-music releases. Imagine getting Boulez's celebrated single CD of Luciano Berio's Sinfonia and Eindrücke and his equally impressive single CD of Arnold Schoenberg's Pelleas und Melisande and Variations for Orchestra, bundled with four pivotal Elliott Carter works, Sir Harrison Birtwistle's electrifying …AGM…, Gérard Grisey's Modulations, Iannis Xenakis's Jalons, Hugues Dufourt's Antiphysis, and Brian Ferneyhough's Funerailles, and you have an idea how far this set stretches.

Rhythm team David Paull and Jim Payne left Jonesy after the release of the band's debut No Alternative. In their stead came Gypsy Jones and Plug Thomas, along with trumpeter/woodwind player Alan Bown and string arranger Ray Russell upending their previous sound. "Masquerade," which opened their sophomore Keeping Up set, immediately introduced the new crew across a dizzying array of genres. Shades of new romantics to come haunt the early passages, but then the song rounds on funk, delves deep into moody waters, pooling around woodwind and trumpet solos whipped to a froth by the lush strings while operatic vocals soar overhead.

Compiled from a selection of opening live improvisations performed by Markus on Touch Guitar throughout The Crimson ProjeKCt’s Spring 2014 European Tour. These instant compositions set the tone for each concert and provided a launch pad for the two drummers to begin their drum duet. The edits presented here cut-off at the point where Pat Mastelotto and Tobias Ralph entered the performance.
