Anna Marie Wooldridge, known professionally as Abbey Lincoln, was an American jazz vocalist. She was a civil rights activist beginning in the 1960s. Lincoln made a career out of delivering deeply felt presentations of standards, as well as writing and singing her own material. This 3CD set features the finest music Abbey Lincoln ever recorded, featuring as it does the absolute cream of her music from the golden years of her career. A true pioneer, Abbey always worked with the finest musicians and whilst not a household name, this new compilation serves equally as a perfect starting point for those new to the lady's music and a fine reminder for everyone else.

Si, entre temps, la salle a changé de nom (on l'appelle désormais Dôme de Paris), l’ardeur de Véronique à y mettre le feu et la chaleur du public demeurent intacts. Dans un show de plus de deux heures, entourée de ses fidèles musiciens, elle revisite plus de 20 titres de son répertoire avec générosité et surtout ce féroce appétit de faire vibrer toute une salle au son de sa voix reconnaissable entre toutes. La scène est sa raison de vivre et elle le prouve une nouvelle fois dans ce film qui restitue l’intégralité du concert. Projeté lors d’une séance unique dans plus de 280 salles de cinéma en septembre 2024, il a attiré plus de 20 000 spectateurs et est maintenant disponible en DVD. Le titre de la tournée, Hasta luego !, est celui d’une chanson co-écrite avec Vianney, et qu’ils interprètent en duo. Martin writes: My first memory of "The Fab Four" was in early 1964. I was 5 years old.
The Beatles were performing at the London Palladium. No, I wasn’t there. But thanks to the little black and white television set in our front room, I had my introduction to Beatlemania. Our family was living in Rochford, Essex, near Southend-On-Sea and the mouth of the River Thames. A mere 40 miles east of London and all this excitement. I can remember saying to my dad, “Why all the screaming? It’s hard to hear the music.” My dad smiled. The song I remember from that performance is “All My Loving” which would have been fairly new back then. They were so exciting and played with such enthusiasm. It’s a memory that has stayed with me all these years. Here Comes The Sun is my take on some of their songs – with the guitar doing the singing. Oh, and by the way, I also wrote a song called “Abbey Road” to close out this album. My tribute. I hope that I’ve done them justice. The CD comes with bonus tracks compared to the download.

This is a joint album by Akiko Yano and Hiromi Uehara, who are both based in New York and continue to perform internationally with their pianos, although in different genres. The album was recorded live at Bunkamura Orchard Hall on September 15, 2016, as part of Yano's 40th anniversary project. It has been five years since the two performed together on "Get Together -LIVE IN TOKYO-" released in November 2011. Like the previous album, this was a "one-night-only" situation, a heated piano session in which the two musicians shared their inspirations in front of an audience of 2,000 people. The album includes 8 songs performed on the day of the show. In addition to popular Akiko Yano songs such as "Tokyo wa Yoru no 7 o'clock," "I'll Fly Away," and "Ramen Tabetai," the album also includes "Dreamer," for which Yano wrote new lyrics to Hiromi Uehara's original, "Koi no Uta," a new song written by Hiromi Uehara, as well as jazz standards, children's songs, R&B and popular songs from the Showa period. The program consists of a medley of cover tunes that traverse the genres and eras.

Features the hit “Love The Way.” Latin rock pioneer Jorge Santana’s musical journey began right after high school when he joined the popular San Francisco nine-piece, horn-driven band, the Malibus. The Malibus added the 17-year-old guitarist and morphed into Malo by 1971. Their self-titled debut album was issued in 1972, yielding the Top Twenty hit, “Sauvecito.” Malo continued to evolve over the course of their four albums for Warner Bros. with a changing cast of members passing through their ranks including keyboardist Richard Kermode formerly of Janis Joplin’s Kozmic Blues Band, singer/founders Arcelio Garcia and Richard Bean, and three members of the band, Naked Lunch, among others. After Malo’s fourth Warner Bros. album Ascención was released, Santana performed with the Fania All-Stars at Madison Square Garden, then appeared on their 1974 album, Latin-Soul-Rock, and after that took a break. In 1978, the first Jorge Santana solo album emerged as a self-titled affair with most of the songs co-written with Malo-alum, Richard Bean who also handled lead vocal duties.

Parlando dell’anno appena trascorso e della sua scelta, assolutamente controcorrente, di non pubblicare brani o album appena uscita dal talent di Sky, Sarafine ha dichiarato: “E così sono rimasta, in silenzio, a scrivere la mia narrazione e la mia musica” – prendendo spunto dalle parole del filosofo coreano Byung-chul Han (“Il silenzio approfondisce la parola, senza silenzio non c’è musica, ma solo rumore”). Sara Sorrenti (questo il vero nome di Sarafine nata a Salerno nel 1988 ma cresciuta a Vibo Valentia, in Calabria, ha anche vissito in Belgio e Lussemburgo) dopo la partecipazione e la vittoria ad XFactor, un anno fa, aveva deciso infatti di sovvertire le regole del gioco prendendosi tutto il tempo necessario per lavorare alla sua musica.

The Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart is performing all these cantatas in chronological order exactly 300 years later. The 23 concerts in all are taking place in and around Stuttgart; the refined live recordings are being released in this CD series on the Hanssler Classic label. The performances follow the latest state of Bach research documented in the new 2022 catalogue of Bach's works BWV3. The ensemble of the Bachakademie, the Gaechinger Cantorey, plays under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann. For this purpose it comprises the instrumentalists and up to four vocalists per voice, including the soloists, all specialists in their field, as Bach himself wished it. This is a vision that only now can be fulfilled in its ideal form. To this day the music will inspire its audience to devotion, challenge them to reflect and make them glad. It addresses questions of faith and comes to terms with particular situations of human life.
