One of the most well-known rock groups from Continental Europe, Denmark's Savage Rose recorded a wealth of intriguing and eclectic progressive rock in the late '60s and '70s. In their early work, one hears faint echoes of the Airplane, Doors, Pink Floyd, and other psychedelic heavyweights combined with classical jazz and Danish-Euro folk elements…

The venerable Delbert McClinton is a legend among Texas roots music aficionados, not only for his amazing longevity, but for his ability to combine country, blues, soul, and rock & roll as if there were no distinctions between any of them in the best time-honored Texas tradition. A formidable harmonica player long before he recorded as a singer, McClinton's career began in the late '50s, yet it took him nearly two decades to evolve into a bona fide solo artist. A critics' darling and favorite of his peers, McClinton never became a household name, but his resurgence in the '90s helped him earn more widespread respect from both the public at large and the Grammy committee.

A long, long time ago… that’s how a fairy tale about the Swedish band which never joined the first league of fame dominated by their peers Mötley Crüe and Bon Jovi, but which certainly had their share of success back in the ‘80s, should start. And although it could have ended at the point of the group being swept by grunge/alternative wave of the early ‘90s, it seems 220 Volt are eager to write at least one more chapter of the story. Seventeen years after the release of Lethal Illusion, which most probably ended up lost in the mists of time, the Swedes come back with Walking In Starlight.

If a listener approaches Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh's new album expecting to hear traditional interpretations of Celtic folk songs, he or she will probably be disappointed. If, on the other hand, a listener approaches Daybreak: Fáinne an Lae as contemporary folk that borrows a thing or two from tradition, he or she will find it quite enjoyable. Part of the problem in how to interpret her music is that even her name, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, hints at tradition, as does the album's title. And it doesn't help that she sings a number of old folk songs in her native tongue, again hinting at a commitment to traditionalism.

Keith Richards is not a man you want to be cross with you. After two decades of occasionally uneasy give and take between Richards and Mick Jagger, the Rolling Stones seemed on the verge of imploding when, after making himself scarce during the recording of 1986's Dirty Work, Jagger made it clear he not only wasn't going to tour with the band, but he was going to devote his time to promoting his second solo album, 1987's Primitive Cool, including playing some shows on his own in Japan…

Infinity is the debut album pop duo Deep Obsession. The album peaked at No.8 in the New Zealand album chart, and included three No.1 singles. At the 2000 New Zealand Music Awards, the album was honoured with five nominations - Top Group - Deep Obsession, Best Cover - "Lost in Love", Best Song - 'Cold' (written by Zara Clark/Chris Rainbow)', Top Female Vocalist - Zara Clark, (for her work on the 'Infinity' album) Most Promising Female Vocalist - Vanessa Kelly (Vanessa sings 'The Power in You' from "Infinity" album). At the 2001 New Zealand Music Awards, Deep Obsession was nominated for'International Achievement Award'. In May 2015 NZ Top 40 charts Ruby Awards, Deep Obsession was nominated and won for achieving three consecutive Number One songs from their début album 'Infinity'.

Zelenka was the most important Bohemian composer before Gluck. He wrote no operas and few instrumental works, but a great body of sacred music for the Catholic court at Dresden plus a few choice secular works. His music is characterized by passus duriusculus – chromatic descent. Another distinguishing characteristic is slow triplets – not infrequently used by Zelenka, though rarely heard in the works of better known late baroque composers.

Anájikon, the second ECM album after Music for piano and string quartet (ECM New Series 2309) by Athens-born and Munich-based Konstantia Gourzi, incorporates her chamber and orchestral music of the past decade. The composer also conducts the Lucerne Academy Orchestra here: "I see composing and conducting as a whole, as an inseparable relationship," she says. Gourzi is particularly concerned with making connections between the arts, which also relates to the question of her own artistic identity and the influence of her origins. In Gourzi's sound language, elements of different musical traditions repeatedly merge, and East and West enter into a dialogue.
