The Kingsnakes are one of the most talented Blues bands from the city of Syracuse, New York. The Kingsnakes were the hottest ticket around during the 1980's and were called on to open up for many great Blues acts who passed through the Northeast, such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker and Savoy Brown. The band also accompanied John Lee Hooker during many of his east coast dates and Pete McMahan, Vocals/harmonica, spent time on the road with Savoy Brown. Kenny Baker & Deacon Jones, from Hooker's band, worked with the Kingsnakes on a few projects and would sometimes join the guys on stage in Syracuse.

NOW That’s What I Call Music continue their Millennium series with a look at the years 2004 and 205. NOW Millennium ’04 – ’05 is available in the usual formats for deluxe 4CD set in hardcover book, 2LP coloured vinyl and the standard 4CD in a card sleeve. 4CD sets features 83 tracks while the 2LP vinyl edition offers 31 songs. It’s always interesting to look back at the relatively near past and there’s probably more big names on here than you might imagine. So for every Shane Ward, Kelly Clarkson and Crazy Frog there’s also George Michael, Duran Duran both singles off their Astronaut comeback and R.E.M. New bands at the time The Killers and Keane feature, as do Kylie, Robbie, Maroon 5, Embrace, Snow Patrol and the like.

2008 digitally remastered edition of this innovative album, originally released in 1970. Denver Gerrard had his brief moment in the spotlight as one half of the Warm Sounds, the duo that he formed with Barry Husband in 1967. They hit #27 on the U.K. charts with 'Birds And Bees,' a trippy Psychedelic Pop number released by Deram Records. On this classic solo album, he is backed by the four members of the cult underground Rock band High Tide.

Wer sich im mehrere Durchgänge umfassenden Vorsingen gegen die Mitbewerberinnen bzw. Mitbewerber durchsetzen kann, wird in den Chor aufgenommen. Seit 2006 ist Thomas Lang Chordirektor.

The first of at least four meetings on record between the great Brazilian-styled guitarists Laurindo Almeida and Charlie Byrd, this very logical matchup (in a quartet with bassist Bob Magnusson and percussionist Milt Holland) is quite succesful. The music is tightly arranged with very little improvisation but the beauty of the two guitarist's distinctive tones and the colorful melodies makes this a rewarding set. From "Carioca" and Jobim's "Stone Flower" to several Brazilian classical pieces and even "Don't Cry For Me Argentina," everything works.

Recognized worldwide as "The First Lady of Song," Ella Fitzgerald is arguably the finest female jazz vocalist of all time. Blessed with a highly resonant voice, wide range, and near-perfect elocution, Fitzgerald also possessed a deft sense of swing, and with her brilliant scat technique, could hold her own against any of her instrumental contemporaries. She came to initial popularity as a member of drummer Chick Webb's band in the 1930s, scoring a hit with a "A-Tisket, A-Tasket," before ascending to wide acclaim in the 1940s with Jazz at the Philharmonic and Dizzy Gillespie's Big Band, and issuing landmark performances like "Flying Home" and "How High the Moon." Working with producer/manager Norman Granz, she gained even more acclaim with her series of albums on Verve, recording definitive versions of the music of the Great American Songbook composers, including 1956's Sings the Cole Porter Songbook. Over her 50-year career, she earned 13 Grammy Awards, sold over 40 million albums, and picked up numerous accolades including a National Medal of Arts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. A hugely important cultural figure, Fitzgerald made an immeasurable impact on the development of jazz and popular music, and remains a touchstone for fans and artists decades after her passing.

On Yes' first two albums, Yes (1969) and Time and a Word (1970), the quintet was mostly searching for a sound on which they could build, losing one of their original members - guitarist Peter Banks - in the process. Their third time out proved the charm - The Yes Album constituted a de facto second debut, introducing the sound that would carry them forward across the next decade or more. Gone are any covers of outside material, the group now working off of its own music from the ground up. A lot of the new material was actually simpler - in linear structure, at least - than some of what had appeared on their previous albums, but the internal dynamics of their playing had also altered radically, and much of the empty space that had been present in their earlier recordings was also filled up here…

Trance 'n' Dance is the third album by Mind Over Matter. The album includes a magnificent "Children of the Midnight" (22-minute piece in four parts), a joint venture with Peter Mergener ("Spacelab"), a track featuring the recorded voice of the great Indian leader and spiritualist Mahatma Gandhi ("Mahatma"), another bonus track from the first album ("The silence") and a track that would become the ultimate encore during MoM-concerts, "Jack the Bear". Aggi Fiegler sang this Floydian track that featured voices from two freaked-out Canadians that Klaus met on a trip to Thailand in the mid-1980s.

Red shirt Ash is right there with the anchor to keep both feet on the ground, to keep Joan of Arkansas quiet when her tirades aren’t palatable for certain company and make sure Betty never EVER takes the stage. Girl in red is good at her job. She’s quiet and kind. She is thoughtful and full of compassion for others and for herself. But we can’t let her take the ship’s wheel all the time either… because there is a time to raise hell and a time to make a scene.

Toshio Hosokawa is Japan’s leading living composer. This fourth volume in the series of his orchestral works, during which he was present for all recording sessions, contains two concertos and two works for orchestra. The Trumpet Concerto ‘Im Nebel’ , which draws its inspiration from Herman Hesse’s poem, conjures up a vision of man and nature, in which the trumpet slowly and magically melts into the orchestral mist. Inspired by a birth, Violin Concerto ‘Genesis’ again places the soloist as the human protagonist in a universal drama of finding harmony through conflict. Sakura is one of Japan’s best-loved songs, arranged by Hosokawa for orchestra, and Uzu displays unique orchestral sonorities.

Jack White One of the great rock conceptualists of the 21st century, Jack White came to fame as the leader of the White Stripes, the Detroit-based garage-punk duo who unexpectedly became one of the biggest rock acts of the 2000s. The White Stripes established White as a roots rocker – he made sure they covered blues chestnuts from Son House – to such a degree that his modernist art instincts were somewhat overshadowed during the band's peak.
