This long awaited 4th CD is the latest release from the 15 piece powerhouse horn/vocal band that has become the band, other bands go to for inspiration. The CD includes 14 new original songs combining a stew of Funk, Jazz, Soul, Rock and Latin flavors.

At a point in time when Britain was still coming to terms with a new era in its racial make-up, pop groups remained largely white although heavily influenced by black music. Homegrown multiracial groups would emerge with The Foundations and Hot Chocolate, but The Equals provided the blueprint and enjoyed considerable success in the process. Their various appearances for the BBC from 1968 to 1970 display alternate renditions of album cuts and singles (with exclusive tracks), capturing the band midway through recording their six albums up until 1970, coupled with TV appearances and tours at home and abroad. Although this collection doesn’t sum up the depth of their work, which remains one of the most considerable in terms of size, it does offer a glimpse into their halcyon period when as a pioneering, multiracial rock group crossing social and music boundaries, the Equals were indeed, unequalled! At two discs – one devoted to original compositions, one to covers – Zonophone's 2007 collection The Best of Bobbie Gentry: The Capitol Years (its subtitle is unintentionally amusing, as Gentry only recorded for Capitol) is the most comprehensive Bobbie Gentry set yet released, which isn't the same thing as the best. Not that this compilation is bad – far from it, actually, since it does have all her hits and the great majority of her best tracks, plus a handful of rarities to lure in diehards. The problem is, it's too exhaustive to act as an introduction, especially with three terrific single-disc sets on the market (EMI's 2000 Ode to Bobbie Gentry, Raven's 2002 An American Quilt, Shout! Factory's 2004 Chickasaw County Child: The Artistry of Bobbie Gentry), and if you're already part of Gentry's cult, you'd be better served by getting Raven's pair of two-fers of original albums. That said, anybody who picks up this Best of Bobbie Gentry will hear plenty of wonderful music, so it's hardly a bad purchase; it's just that there are better options out there.

I'm Ready is the thirteenth studio album by Chicago blues veteran Muddy Waters. The second of Waters' Johnny Winter-produced albums for the Blue Sky Records label, I'm Ready was issued one year after he found renewed commercial and critical success with Hard Again. Not too well known…but that's probably why they're so gooood. if you're into paris style jazz-house, Viennese trip-hop like K&D, and also enjoy soulful funkalicious rhythms, you will love this. Troublemakers give you a mild dose of each, at times making you want to get up and dance, at rarer times making you flip like with a good Funkadelic record, and all other times, just making you feel cool and thankful to have found these guys.

Arriving after the twin peaks of Blood on the Tracks and Desire, Street Legal seemed like a disappointment upon its 1978 release, and it still seems a little subpar years after its release. Perhaps that's because Bob Dylan was uncertain himself, not just writing a set of songs with no connecting themes, but replacing the sprawl of the Rolling Thunder Revue with a slick, professional big band, featuring a horn section and several backing vocalists…
