The tracks are all taken from Achtung Baby from various tours throughout the years, and all of the tracks are unreleased to date with the exception of “Zoo Station” (Live from Buenos Aires, March 2, 2006) which was previously released on the “Window in the Skies“ single, and “Mysterious Ways” (Live from Cape Town, February 18, 2011) which was featured on the “U22“ fan club album. The gift will come in a photo booklet, and will include commentary by author Bill Flanagan, who accompanied the band on their Zoo TV tour.

The novelties here are the Mattheson works, the first two fully composed, the third a figured-bass exercise from Mattheson's treatise on the subject. The sonata is a dramatic, virtuoso outing in the Italian style; the suite, ostensibly more french in character, retains a typical German heaviness.

The present release is the first recording of Meyerbeer‘s principal work, recorded on the basis of the new critical edition of the opera. This edition not only considers the musical text of the version known during the 19th century and released by the publisher Brandus, but also offers the version of the work that Meyerbeer produced for the definitive instrumentation and allowed to be rehearsed in Paris beginning in December 1848. OehmsClassics is delighted not only over the magnificent production, but also over the continuation of their collaboration with the Aalto Music Theatre in Essen. With an all-star cast including John Osborn, Marianne Cornetti, Lynette Tapia, and many more, this production is one that cannot be missed.

Whether or not they actually travelled south of the Alps, as Handel did early in his career, all 18th-century German composers of note were influenced by the Italian style of vocal and instrumental writing at the time. Manuel Tomadin’s latest album for Brilliant Classics explores the connections between these apparently disparate traditions, beginning with the Toccata, Adagio and Fugue BWWV564 which stands among the most striking examples of JS Bach’s work during his years as Capellmeister to the ducal court in Weimar (1710-1717).

Jan Ladislav Dussek (1760-1812) was a cosmopolitan piano virtuoso who studied with C.P.E. Bach, lived and performed in one European capital after another in a tumultuous progress across the continent, and wrote huge quantities of eclectic music which has largely been forgotten. Dussek's music for his own instrument may now be much better known than half a century ago - not least thanks to the first period-instrument edition of his piano sonatas, produced by Brilliant Classics - but he wrote almost 80 violin sonatas which also deserve revival as the product of a fluent and always inventive mind working on the cusp of eras we now identify as Classicism and Romanticism.

Central to his repertory are the great works of J S Bach, Mozart, Reger and Liszt.

In recent decades, Johann Sebastian Bach's (1685–1750) works have undergone numerous transcriptions and adaptations. Since the 1960s, the guitar repertoire has seen the addition of several Bach pieces originally intended for the lute, an instrument that is undoubtedly among the most akin to the modern six-string guitar. Following the increasingly in-depth study of Bach's work and the spread of the classical guitar, several harpsichord pieces have also been transcribed and performed. This album magnificently displays these pieces by exploiting the rich dynamics and full polyphonic capacity of the guitar.

This new recording presents the complete guitar works of Llobet, who himself was a virtuoso on his instrument, as shown in the complex and innovative writing. Barcelona-born Miguel Llobet once played for the Spanish royal family in the early 20th century. Credited with beginning the notion of a touring classical guitarist, Llobet travelled throughout Europe and beyond, briefly settling in both Paris and Buenos Aires. He later returned to Barcelona, unable to distance himself from his birthplace despite the grip of the civil war in which the city found itself.

‘Chico Hamilton Quintet featuring Buddy Collette’ recorded in 1955 kicks the set off and introduces the world to the unique sound of drums, sax, bass, cello and guitar. ‘Chico Hamilton Quintet In Hi Fi’ repeats the successful formula with the same group, Chico on drums, of course, Collette on sax, Jim Hall, guitar, Fred Katz, cello and Carson Smith on bass. For our third album ‘Chico Hamilton Quintet’ Paul Horn replaces Collette and John Pisano replaces Hall on guitar. Rounding off proceedings we include selections from the album ‘Chico Hamilton Trio’ featuring George Duvivier on bass and Howard Roberts on guitar.

This audio-only companion to the Eyes Wide Open double-DVD package features King Crimson performing at Kouseinenkin Hall in Tokyo, Japan, on April 16, 2003. The quartet of Adrian Belew (guitar/vocals), Robert Fripp (guitar), Trey Gunn (Warr guitar/fretless Warr guitar), and Pat Mastelotto (drum traps/buttons) is a neo-progressive and practically industrial-sounding force to be reckoned with, emerging from the fraKctionalization of the double-trio version of the group - which also included contributions from Bill Bruford (percussion) and Tony Levin (bass/Chapman stick). Now pared down to its essence, the band is leaner and able to effortlessly maneuver through some of the most challenging material to bear the King Crimson moniker…

The sleevenotes read like a veritable "who's who" of current synth artists: Paul Ellis, Nemesis, Free System Projekt, Robert Carty, Rudy Adrian, Kubusschnitt, Dave Fulton, Synthetic Block, Paul Nagle, Arcane, John Christian (from AirSculpture) and Ramp. This project was borne from the internet chat group "beyond_em", a thriving source of news, information and general gossip which has hundreds of subscribers, including the artists here and many more. 'Beyond Me' is the result, a virtual embarrassment of riches. There is so much tempting music on this album you really won't know where to start. The majority of tracks are new, only the Arcane piece has appeared previously on the 'Alterstill' CDR, and Paul Nagle's track has appeared in remixed form on 'Blue Book'.
