Ein Rückblick auf zehn Jahre Cecilia Bartoli: Die Arie "Non piú mesto" aus der 1992 entstandenen Gesamtaufnahme von Rossinis La Cenerentola ist das älteste Tondokument dieser Anthologie, und mancher, der wie der Rezensent diese Cenerentola damals erworben hat, wird sich gut erinnern an die unbeschreiblich elektrisierende Wirkung, die die junge Italienerin mit ihrem vollblütigen Stimmmaterial, ihrem Temperament und ihrer faszinierenden Virtuosität auf ihn ausübte. Das Besondere: Die Geschwindigkeit der rasend schnellen Koloraturen geht niemals zu Lasten des Ausdrucks oder der Intensität.
Ähnliches war 1999 in Bartolis furiosem Vivaldi Album zu erleben: Rückhaltlos und wie besessen jagt sie durch "Anch'il mar par che sommerga" aus Il Tamerlano. Wem das zu aufregend ist, der wird seine Freude haben an Christoph Willibald Glucks "Di questa cetra in seno" oder "Un moto di gioia" aus Mozarts Figaro: Zärtlicher, fein differenzierter Gesang ganz nahe am Text, oft am unteren Ende der dynamischen Skala. Ganz mädchenhaft-begeistert in der Vorfreude auf gemeinsamen Kindersegen ist Cecilia Bartoli dann als Papagena im Duett mit Papageno Bryn Terfel zu erleben.
All diese Gesangsereignisse und viele mehr, die hier nicht genannt werden können, sind Auskoppelungen aus im Laufe der Jahre erschienenen Alben. Erstmals veröffentlicht wurden hingegen zwei Duette mit Luciano Pavarotti, von denen dasjenige aus Donizettis Elisir d'Amore mehr überzeugt als das bekannte "Libiamo" aus Verdis Traviata. Aber was sie auch singt: Cecilia Bartoli ist immer mit jeder Faser ihres Wesens bei der Sache, Halbheiten gibt es nicht. Außerdem ist es die Vielseitigkeit ihrer Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten, mit der sie den Hörer immer wieder in ihren Bann zieht. Winzige Details sind es oft, die große Freude machen: Reizend ist etwa der verzierte Schluss von "Voi che sapete" aus Mozarts Figaro. Derartiges gibt es auf dieser CD allenthalben zu entdecken.
