"Get It Right" is the 29th studio album by American singer Aretha Franklin. It was produced by Luther Vandross, following his successful teaming with the singer for the Gold-certified album, "Jump To It", in 1982. "Get It Right" was not as commercially successful, and Franklin did not have Vandross produce any further albums. The disc's title song became a #1 hit on Billboard's R&B singles chart - knocking Donna Summer out of the top spot - but it stalled at only #61 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was a critical and commercial failure, selling about 200,000 copies in the US. It was belatedly issued on compact disc in the 1990s.

A worthy album by one of New York's most soulful groups. Lead singer Douglas "Smokey" Scott could belt a lyric as convincingly as anyone. Their soulful rendition of "Best Thing Ever Happened to Me" probably surprised Jim Weatherly (the composer) with its earthiness. "Some Guys Have All the Luck," which did well on the charts, sounds better than Rod Stewart's Top Ten remake. They get real on "We're Just Trying to Make It," an epic song about a man, his woman, and their issues. "Stay With Me" is irresistible with its sweet unison backing vocals and building lead.

"The Third Album" was the 3rd album that Mike Berniker produced for Barbra Streisand at Columbia Records. He explained to the press how, in just a few short years, Streisand had grown as a vocalist: “There used to be an edge on the top of her voice,” he said, “but now that edge is gone. She's still pushing just as hard, but it's not as evident as it used to be. In her third album, her new one, there's a real serenity - at least, for Streisand it's serenity.” After marrying Elliott Gould and finishing up a series of West Coast concerts, Barbra Streisand returned to New York City in the Fall of 1963 where she began to record songs for her third album. Barbra attended two recording sessions, working on songs with arrangements by Peter Matz and Ray Ellis.

The match-up of neo-pop crooner with composer is a felicitous one, especially given that this album was recorded in Paris with arranging and conducting. The result is that the treatment of familiar songs such as and is less gimmicky than usual: and slow down, and treat in a more melancholy-than-usual manner. Elsewhere, 's blues and jazz influences are on display, notably on and 's lugubrious lyrics sometimes overstate the wistful tone of ' s melodies, but , by keeping his emotions in check, brings the two into harmony. The liner notes claim this is the singer's favorite of his own albums, and it is certainly one of his least compromised. So often, he has tried on record to balance his pop roots with the commercial demands of contemporary pop-rock; here, he is going all out in one particular style, and the approach works for him.

"Out of Control" is the 2nd solo studio album (his first being his 1978 self-titled) released by former Kiss drummer Peter Criss. Recording for the album began in March 1980, when Criss was still officially a member of Kiss. The album sold very poorly, and was not re-released on CD until 1997, as the Kiss reunion tour was underway. The lone single from the album, "By Myself", failed to chart. The album features a hidden bonus track of a cover of As Time Goes By. The album also included a cover of the song "You Better Run" by The Young Rascals.

Generally regarded as Tommy James' comeback album after so much of the 1980s was spent in the wilderness, Hi-Fi is not the strongest record he had made since his heyday, nor one that would bring the old fans pouring back into earshot. When Columbia Records released Cheryl Lynn's second album, "In Love", in 1979, the Los Angeles native had a lot to live up to. Her 1978 smash "Got to Be Real" had become one of the definitive anthems of the Disco Era, reaching #1 on Billboard s R&B singles chart and #12 on Billboard s pop singles chart. On top of that, "Star Love" (another single from Lynn's self-titled debut album of 1978) was a #16 R&B hit in Billboard. So Columbia had high hopes for "In Love". "Touch" is the 5th album by American singer Laura Branigan, released in 1987 on Atlantic Records. This album marked a change in Branigan's career. Under new management and using a different producer, the singer took a more active role in the studio, gaining hands-on experience which she used to self-produce tracks on her subsequent albums. "Touch" also saw her return to dancefloors with the first single, the Stock/Aitken/Waterman produced "Shattered Glass", which was released in June 1987 and was a US Top 50 hit. She had a Top 40 hit with a cover of Jennifer Rush's minor U.S. hit, "Power of Love", which was released in October 1987. "Spirit of Love" was released as a single in Europe. "Cry Wolf" was the album's 3rd single release in the US, and was a top 30 AC hit.

"Let's Hear It for the Boy" is an album by American recording artist Deniece Williams released in 1984 on Columbia Records. The album reached #10 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart and #26 on the Billboard 200 chart. Deniece Williams produced six of the album's tracks while George Duke produced the remaining four. The album's title track reached #1 in the US on the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Soul Singles, and Dance Club Play charts. On the UK Pop Singles chart, it peaked at #2. The song was written for the 1984 feature film "Footloose" and appears on its soundtrack. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA. Other tracks from the album released as singles include, "Next Love", which reached #17 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, and "Black Butterfly", which reached #22 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles chart.

Released in 1982 "Rit/2" made the Top 5 in the jazz charts, and stayed on the Billboard chart for 14 weeks, "Cross My Heart" was the debut single from the album that featured vocals by Eric Tagg, who is also prominent on "Rit". "Rit" and "Rit/2" were the only albums Ritenour was to record for Elektra, as he moved to Dave Grusin's GRP label where he picked up a Grammy award for an album he released with Dave Grusin titled "Harlequin".

"The Singer" is the 7th studio album by American actress and singer Liza Minnelli. The album is a milestone in Minnelli's career as it is her only studio album (i.e. non-soundtrack) to reach the Top 40 on the Billboard 200 Album chart. The album also peaked at #45 in the UK Albums Chart. The album was re-released in CD by Cherry Red Records with 4 additional bonus tracks.

"Promised Land" is the 21st studio album by American singer and musician Elvis Presley, released by RCA Records on January 8, 1975. It was recorded in December 1973 at Stax Records studios in Memphis and released on Presley's 40th birthday in January, 1975. In the US the album reached #47 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and #1 in Billboard's Top Country LPs chart. The album rose to #1 in the Country Cashbox albums chart. In the UK the album reached #21.
