Her songs impart incredible intimacy that is enhanced and not diminished by her sometimes complex string/orchestral arrangements (remarkably Sill arranged and conducted the strings/orchestra on her albums!). Sill’s life was tragic personally and professionally. Her father and brother were killed when Sill was young, and her tempestuous relationship with her alcoholic (and remarried) mother resulted in her leaving home at 15. She committed robberies and began a battle she was destined to lose against drug addiction. When stardom didn’t follow the critical acclaim of these two albums her career never recovered. Sill was dead in 1979 at just 35. The brevity of Judee’s musical legacy is vastly outweighed by the emotional power in these two extraordinary albums. Judee Sill and Heart Food are Mastered DIRECT-TO-DSD from the original analog master tapes by Kevin Gray at CoHEARent Audio. The master tapes are in fine shape, and listeners will be blown away by the increased inner detail and three-dimensionality of these achingly gorgeous recordings.

Synthesis: The String Quartet Sessions is an epic new project by Grammy Award-winning producer Ryan Truesdell, which pairs 15 large ensemble jazz composers with a historic instrumentation through newly commissioned works for string quartet.

In this debut release, the ensemble ALTA BELLEZZA traces the footsteps of 15th century composer Guillaume Dufay through Italy, Savoy and his Burgundian homeland. Considered the most illustrious composer of his generation, Dufay was employed by several popes, and by noble families including the Malatesta, the Este and the court of Savoy while maintaining close ties to the court of the Burgundian duke Philip the Good, renowned in its day as the finest court in Europe.

Giuseppe Mazzini, the greatest revolutionary of the 19th century in Europe, was very passionate about music, he attended theaters and organized an annual concert to support the Italian School he founded in London. He published a very interesting “Philosophy of music” in Paris in 1836 and, as we know from the letters to his mother written in periods of exile from Italy, he loved to play the guitar.

Erik Honoré releases the final album in a trilogy that started with ”Heliographs” (2014) and ”Unrest” (2017). On ”Triage”, Honoré’s sonic collages are constructed from contributions by a stellar ensemble: Sidsel Endresen, Nils Petter Molvær, Arve Henriksen, David Toop, Eivind Aarset, Bjørn Charles Dreyer, Jan Bang, Kirke Karja, Mats Eilertsen and Anders Engen.

With features from the likes of SOAK, London Grammar and Domino’s own Panda Bear, Stellar Drifting is George’s most ambitious project to date. George keeps his roots deep within the electronic music scene, bringing in pop melodies, club rhythms and other UK dance music elements whilst pushing the boundaries of his sound.

It was like I was moving forward and venturing into places I had never been before. Taking everything I've learned from every other record and kind of setting fire to it all and starting over," Ben Harper says of his new album Bloodline Maintenance. "And I knew the sounds I was hearing in my head were so unorthodox that I had to do most of it myself." The result is a fearless and immensely soulful work largely inspired by the loss of a longtime friend and the lingering influence of a mercurial and charismatic father. Along with guitar and bass, Harper also played the drums including an eclectic assortment of percussions.

Wide Open Light Is a family of songs I’ve written. I’ve selected them with the care one might put into a personal photo album. To that effect, I’d call it a sonic family photo album, each track a close relative to the next. The story behind this record is simple. I have been writing songs now for over 30 years. It’s what I long to do, love to do, and at times feel I need to do, and hope to continue doing until the ink runs dry and the notes fade. But for now, Wide Open Light. Deliberately minimalist, the songs themselves do as much of the heavy lifting as the production. (produced by myself, and my longtime collaborators Danny Kalb and Jason Mozersky). Wide Open Light is a beautifully raw album that features appearances from the likes of Jack Johnson, Shelby Lynne and Piers Faccini.

“I started this album during lockdown, when I felt an intense need to write music that was personal and overtly emotional. It’s quite a change from anything I have written before.
