Recovered from the depths of the Rory Gallagher archive comes ‘Cleveland Calling’ a previously unreleased radio session recorded at WNCR in Cleveland on August 7th,1972. This intimate 8-song acoustic session and interview with DJ Carolyn Thomas was found on a small 7” reel and will be released for the first time for Record Store Day 2020.

Marlena Shaw was the first female vocalist signed to Blue Note and this album, from 1973, was her second for the label. As the title hints, Shaw blends soul with jazz on this material that includes R&B hits from the era alongside Randy Edelman and Fox and Gimbel compositions, even an original tune from Shaw. The album was produced by famed jazz producer and music executive Dr. George Butler who put together a line up of great musicians to support Shaw including Ron Carter on bass, Grady Tate on drums and guitarist Hugh McCracken.

Many have compared Marlena Shaw's range, class and swing to that of eternal jazz lights Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington and Nancy Wilson. This 1972 release was Shaw's debut for Blue Note and includes a blend of pop songs and show tunes, arranged and conducted by Wade Marcus. Shaw had just ended a four-year stint as a vocalist in Count Basie's orchestra which earned her an historic contract as the first female vocalist signed to Blue Note, an association that yielded five albums and several singles.

The Danish jazz vocalist/composer Sinne Eeg studied at the Academy of Music in Esbjerg in 1997 where she graduated in 2003. She is highly acclaimed and is considered a major talent among the best of female jazz vocalists in Scandinavia. For the most part, she sings songs in English. Her distinctive vocals have earned her a loyal and ever growing fan base around the world as well as in her native country. As a singer, she is influenced by Nancy Wilson, Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughan, but with her personal touch of soft darkness, Sinne keeps the Scandinavian melancholy settled in her music. The Best of Sinne Eeg release features a variety of songs such as Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The Sound of Music", to Ellington's "In A Sentimental Mood", to Lennon & McCartney's "Strawberry Fields Forever".

Sinne Eeg is likely the finest contemporary jazz singer you’ve yet to discover. While the 40-year-old Dane, regularly ranked foremost throughout Scandinavia, has recorded seven previous albums as a leader, Dreams is only her second Stateside release. Still, it’s an ideal point of entry, a stunning showcase of not only her intoxicating style, which suggests the cashmere embrace of Nancy Wilson paired with the sharp interpretive skills of Shirley Horn, but also her songwriting acumen. Of Dreams’ 10 tracks, four are covers, including a gently inquisitive “What Is This Thing Called Love?” and a downy “I’ll Remember April”.

Canadian singer/songwriter Colin Linden has been delivering his own blues-oriented rock since the early '70s. One fine thing about his "Big Mouth": It is not a collection of 15 tracks, with the best two or three at the beginning. The quality is consistent throughout – there are no real clunkers and some of the best tunes are at the middle and end. If you are a listener who lets a disc fade into the background after a track or two, you’ll want to start this one in the middle now and then.

Nefertiti is a studio album by American jazz musician Miles Davis, released in March 1968. Recorded on June 7, June 22–23 and July 19, 1967, at Columbia's 30th Street Studio, the album was Davis' last fully acoustic album. Davis himself did not contribute any compositions, which were mostly written by Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.
