His first major band experience came when he joined Family in 1971. He was featured on two of their albums: 1971's Fearless and Bandstand (released the following year). He performed various functions in the group, but his primary role was as bassist. Previous to this group he had recorded with Edwards Hand and Mogul Thrash. He left Family to join Robert Fripp and company in King Crimson, taking a place that had been previously filled by Greg Lake. This would not be the last time the two of them would replace one another.

The sonatas for guitar by the Mexican composer Manuel María Ponce (1882-1948) demonstrate his remarkable ability to compose music inspired by a wide variety of styles. From early romantic works like Estrellita (1912) to the more complex harmonic language of his Concierto for violin (1943), Ponce displayed extraordinary versatility.

Following on from his JS Bach Complete Organ Works collection performed on the organ at Trinity College Cambridge, David Goode returns with an album of organ works by WA Mozart. It is well known that Mozart highly esteemed the organ as an instrument (for example, his famous ‘King of Instruments’ remark) and enjoyed improvising at length. However, this sadly did not translate into writing for the instrument. Organist David Goode explores these works, and those which even may not have been intended for organ, and discusses in his programme notes how best to render them for two hands and feet, and how to register them suitably.

Della Mae's Kimber Ludiker joins on fiddle, mandolin and harmony. Alex Lacquement plays bass and harmonica. The songs range in topic from love to comedy, history, social justice and great storytelling. Musical styles include folk, bluegrass, swing, country, and Celtic.

Unlike any other singer/songwriters saddled with the appellation of "the new Dylan" in the early '70s, Springsteen never hid how he was raised on '60s AM radio. He loved rock & roll, whether it was the initial blast from the '50s or the mini-symphonies from the days before the Beatles or the garage rockers that surfaced in the wake of the British Invasion, and all this could be heard within his wild, wooly collective E Street Band, a group who debuted on his second album, 1973's The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle, and who would support him throughout most of his career.

Two discs, 31 tracks – that's a lotta Bachman-Turner Overdrive even for some die-hard fans – but that's what Anthology offers, complete with remastered sound, liner notes, and a handful of rarities, including the previously unreleased "Stayed Awake All Night" and four "quad mixes." These rarities aren't enticing for anybody but hardcore followers and, really, most listeners will be better served by Greatest Hits, which contains all the radio hits. Here, those are surrounded by album tracks, ranging from pedestrian to pretty good, actually. BTO doesn't really have any hidden gems, per se, yet there's enough good stuff here to satisfy fans of the big hits who want to hear a little bit more. That doesn't mean it's perfect, or even consistently entertaining, but it does prove that there's more than just the hits to BTO.

Four decades of Alphaville! As one of the few German bands, the pop formation founded by Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd and Frank Mertens has managed to gain a permanent place in the international music scene with hits such as "Big in Japan", "Forever Young" and "Sounds like a Melody" and to inspire generations of fans. And that continues to this day: In the fall, the band's first career-spanning retrospective will be released: "ALPHAVILLE FOREVER! - BEST OF 40 YEARS" will be available from September 27, 2024 - exactly 40 years to the day after the release of the debut album "Forever Young".
