The final installment of the reissue series "Yukihiro x Yukihiro EARLY 80s" that shines a light on the early 1980s solo work of Yukihiro Takahashi, who will celebrate his 50th anniversary in 2022 after joining the Sadistic Mika Band in 1972. The first nationwide solo tour “YUKIHIRO TAKAHASHI 1982 WHAT, ME WORRY?”, held in conjunction with the release of his fourth solo album “WHAT, ME WORRY?” Includes the latest digitally remastered version of the 1983 live album "tIME and pLACE".

These remixes are a retro take on those newer songs as to how they might have sounded. To illustrate the complexity of the project, each song is built up of between 130 to 190 track parts (i.e. drums, guitars, bass lines, synths and vocals). The album includes remixes of versions of four of their biggest hits, the Japanese #2 hit 'Hit And Run Lover', through to their most recent album, 'Fan The Flame (Part 2). This version is packaged as a 2CD set in Seven Inch Deluxe Gatefold Packaging, with 8-page page booklet containing an intro note with the backstory behind the album's concept.

7th March 2023 marked the 40th anniversary of the release of one of the all-time great debut albums, The Hurting by Tears for Fears featuring the hit singles ‘Mad World’, ‘Change’ and ‘Pale Shelter’. I have remixed the album for the occasion in Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround and instrumental stereo, all fully approved by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. The Dolby Atmos mix is available for streaming on supported platforms, but the 5.1 and instrumental stereo mixes are included (along with the Atmos mix) on a standalone blu-ray audio disc issued by Virgin/UMR and exclusively for sale via Super Deluxe Edition. The blu-ray additionally features the original stereo master. As if that wasn’t enough my stereo mixes of two recently rediscovered earlier recordings of ‘Mad World’ & ‘Watch Me Bleed’ made at sessions with producer Mike Howlett prior to the album versions will also be exclusive to the blu-ray. These tracks were found on the multitrack reels, possibly having never been mixed before. Even Roland and Curt had not heard them for 40 years!

It was I feel that what is required of recordings in 1970s-1980s idol works was the starting point where the sensibility and technical skills of engineers were questioned as to how to express the arrangement as sound. It was an era that was directly linked to the "hit" of selling works through sound expression (sound design), and I remember going into the recording site while feeling pressured and nervous as an engineer.
