It's an ancient practice, an idea that has long since been debunked by centuries of scientific evidence to the contrary. Or has it? Attempts to derive precious substances from lead or tin may have been dismissed by modern-day science as a fool's errand, but the belief that something of great value can come from something common persists. It was a landmark album with its bold, poetic lyrical content allied to progressive and melodic music, and it saw producer Bob Thiele help Gil and his musical partner Brian Jackson paint the picture they needed to get their message across. Thiele put Gil and Brian together with Ron Carter, Hubert Laws and Bernard Purdie, giving them the musical heft they wanted.

Instant Groove is an instrumental funk album produced by composer Cyril Amourette and produced by the instrumentalist label Black Stamp Music. On the path opened by CTI records in the 70s and 80s, Black Stamp Music & Cyril Amourette perpetuates the tradition of careful recordings in the service of his own federation of instrumentalists which continues to evolve the groove moment.

Interesting to hear music from the far reaches of the globe, it always reminds me that despite our language barriers, good music always transcends our limited understanding of mere words. Tore Morten Andreassen is a guitarist from Norway, not exactly a hotbed for fusion music, at least to my knowledge, as I am sure there are some immensely talented jazz/rock artists over there, only a few that I am aquainted with. Andreassen's music is of the electric fusion variety, very uptempo with his guitar providing many of the catchy melodies that personalize his music's direction. He is surrounded by some other musicians that are every bit as skilled as he is, and together they have a nice sound overall.

'Liberation' is the new album from producer, composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Sly5thAve. Overcoming creative struggles and focusing on being true to himself, Sly5thAve felt liberated upon completing the title track "Liberation", a sentiment that shaped the album's title. Born from a demo created five years ago during Sly5thAve's initial attempt to conceive the album, "Liberation" draws inspiration from beloved blaxploitation film soundtracks and iconic artists like Curtis Mayfield, Willie Hutch, Herbie Hancock, Gordon Parks & J. J Johnson.
