Antonio Dayyani's second studio album, TROP OP, seamlessly blends eight of his original compositions with a reimagined traditional Swedish folk song, each piece infused with a country-tinged Scandinavian melancholy.

From the very time that he entered the jazz scene in the early nineties, saxophonist Yuri Honing found new ways to move people with his slightly melancholic sound and crystal clear constructions he used for his improvisations. Since then he has performed and recorded with such jazz greats as Pat Metheny, Paul Bley, Gary Peacock and Charlie Haden. His album Memory Lane is a ballad album that shows Honing's lyrical side. For this project he invited some of the finest musicians from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra to create a large ensemble with strings, woodwind and rhythm section. This SACD sounds as if you were there in the studio as it was recorded.

Pianist Eric Le Sage, often praised for his ‘precious, noble and tonally subtle playing’ (Rondo), dedicates himself here to two unusual chamber music works from the French late Romantic period that are rarely heard in the concert hall. There is the Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet, op. 21 by Ernest Chausson (1855-1899), a string sextet with a particularly virtuoso violin part (the dedicatee was the Belgian violin legend Eugene Ysaÿe) - which is indeed what its title suggests: a violin concerto with chamber music accompaniment.

It's been a half century since Pavlov's Dog burst onto the burgeoning progressive rock scene of the early 1970s. Hailing from the city of St. Louis, Missouri, their heady blend of rock, classical and folk music turned them into cult legends.

Roland Haynes Jr and his group Phenix released just a single 45 on their eponymous label: the sophisticated modern soul cut 'Mind Games', with a dapper jazz ballad, 'The Essence of Jai' as the flipside (coming soon on the studio LP). Until now, that 1983 single has been the sole material trace of both band and artist.
