Irma Curry may not be a familiar name to you, but in the early 1950s she was a star vocalist in Lionel Hampton's band. In 1962, she recorded a stupendous album for Columbia called Love Is a Necessary Evil.

Dead Cross are an American hardcore punk and heavy metal supergroup formed in Southern California. The band consists of guitarist Mike Crain (Retox), bassist Justin Pearson (the Locust, Head Wound City and Retox), drummer Dave Lombardo (Suicidal Tendencies, Misfits, Slayer and Fantômas) and vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More and Fantômas). While the band consider themselves as hardcore punk, they have also been labelled in the media as heavy metal and thrash metal.

For Hinako Omori, synthesisers are a portal to the subconscious. Far from being sterile or austere, “synths really do respond to how you’re feeling,” says the London-based artist, producer and composer. “There have been times where I’ve felt stressed and my synth would go out of tune. I took it to a repair place once, thinking that something was wrong with it, but it was fine; I think it was to do with my energy levels. So when I sit down and write something, whatever comes out is relevant to how I feel in that moment because the synthesiser is responding to it. The music really becomes a map of my emotions.”
