The Sonata No.1 for Violin and Piano in G Major, Op. 78 can be heard as a compendium of the characteristics of Brahms’s very personal embodiment of Romanticism: it combines sweet lyricism, restrained expressivity, and emotional urgency. All of it in an unbroken melodic flow in the violin, which sings from beginning to end without ever being disrupted by the piano. Brahms’s second Sonata for this medium was composed in the summer of 1886 while vacationing in the Bernese Oberland.

Esteemed composer and pianist Henrik Lindstrand presents his new album ‘Klangland’, out on March 10th, recorded in Berlin by engineer Francesco Donadello and conducted by The London Contemporary Orchestra’s Robert Ames. Following the release of his lauded solo piano trilogy, Henrik Lindstrand felt the need to expand his vision, in doing so he embarked on his most challenging sonic journey to date in a bid to discover new instrumental narratives and ways to convey emotion through concentrated melody alone. It’s a hunt that has defined his musical career so far,and on ‘Klangland’, his fourth studio album, he took an exacting approach to the process, utilizing a stirring 16-piece string section.

Rachel Podger has been recording and performing Bach's music for violin to critical acclaim for over two decades. In 2015 she became the tenth (and first female) recipient of the Royal Academy of Music Bach Prize. On this release she leads her own ensemble, Brecon Baroque, in Bach's monumental Art of Fugue (Die Kunst der Fuge). The recording is presented in Channel Classics's signature stunning DSD sound.

Beatles fans refer to the 1968 album, officially titled The Beatles, as The White Album. But for Carly Simon fans 'the white album' is unmistakably, undeniably "Hotcakes". On the cover, a heavily pregnant Carly glows with happiness in a setting so gleamingly white that it immediately conveys sun-drenched domesticity. Once again, the photographer was Ed Caraeff, but this was not another session on the smart streets of fashionable London. There is nothing jet set here. Instead, Carly is pictured in the kitchen of the New York townhouse she shared with James Taylor, and in the months before the birth of their daughter, Sally.

"Hello Big Man" is singer-songwriter Carly Simon's eleventh studio album, originally released in 1983. It is also her last album for Warner Bros. Records. It was a commercial disappointment upon release, despite a positive reception from critics. The album featured Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare on a number of tracks, including one Bob Marley cover. The title of the album is an allude to the reply that Simon's mother, Andrea Simon, gave to her father, Richard Simon, when they first met. He said "hello little woman", and she replied "hello big man".
