Pop legend Cher releases a collection of mixes for her recent single "DJ Play A Christmas Song", featured on her 2023 holiday album Christmas!

Takahiro Yoshikawa (吉川 隆弘, Yoshikawa Takahiro) is a Japanese classical pianist. He is a regular piano soloist at La Scala, Italy's leading opera house.

J.S. Bach completed his six suites for solo cello in 1723. Since then, these works have become pillars of the repertoire, influencing many of the 20th century’s works for the instrument. Heinz Marecek tells the story of the shipwrecked sailor Enoch Arden. A melodrama of sound based on a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson, as gripping as Odysseus or Robinson Crusoe, composed in a phase between the symphonic poems "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks", "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" and the orchestral works "Don Quixote" and "A Hero's Life".

We know Ignaz Jan Paderewski (1860-1941) as a legendary pianist, probably also as the first president of the newly founded state of Poland in 1918 - and we have certainly heard that he left behind a not insignificant compositional œuvre: In particular, his Piano Concerto in A minor and the Symphony in B minor "Polonia" have deservedly made it to recording honors. A similar one-off to these works is the opera Manru, which was premiered at the Dresden Semper Opera on May 29, 1901, and met with triumphant success.

From Schütz to Bräutigam by way of Schumann, Reger, Mauersberger, Poulenc and Werner – this recording by the Chamber Choir of the Freiburg University of Music under the direction of Morten Schuldt-Jensen takes the listener through the entire history of the motet. All of these compositions have one thing in common: their uniquely personal expressive force. The Drei Paulusmotetten by Fritz Werner, a contemporary of Poulenc, appear for the first time on HIGHRESAUDIO. These brilliant motets reflect the period and events of the time of their creation. The works by Werner and Mauersberger, for instance, were composed during the horrors of the Second World War.

The most difficult thing about an operetta is finding an effective title, Gustave Adolphe Kerker once claimed. Although this was not meant seriously, it is not so far-fetched - after all, anyone who has to struggle to invent melodies has no business in the light genre. born in Herford in Westphalia in 1854, taken to the USA by his parents at the age of ten and rising to become one of Broadway's most famous personalities, Kerker was indeed a paragon of ideas that only needed to be combined with a turbulent plot. Take: The Belle of New York (1897), which got off to a very slow start there, conquered London's West End with almost 700 performances, became a model of "musical comedy" and has remained so to this day. The Theater für Niedersachsen, which became Broadway with "The Belle of New York", always receives rapturous applause.
