The 325-voice Mormon Tabernacle Choir of Salt Lake is one of the best-known, best-loved musical organizations in the world. Here they perform superb new arrangements, by Associate Conductors Mack Wilberg and Barlow Bradford, of sixteen favorite carols, accompanied by the newly-formed Orchestra at Temple Square (heard here in their second recording ever), and conducted by the talented new Director of the Choir, Dr. Craig Jessop.

One of the great, and most underrated, figures in the jazz avant-garde, composer, and reedman Sam Rivers turned out rigorous, substantive work from the early '60s well into the 2000s. "Contrasts" featuring performances recorded in 1979 and released on the ECM label.

This debut album from tenor saxophonist Sam Rivers, formerly of the Miles Davis Quintet, was released in 1964 on Blue Note and walks the line between jazz and blues. Rivers is accompanied on this collection of his own original songs by Davis's rhythm section of Ron Carter on bass and drummer Tony Williams, with pianist Jaki Byard.

He was born in Mississippi, raised in Chicago. This is his debut recording, and what a great album this is! His music is full of respect for the old masters that have tutored him, amongst them Jimmy Rogers. Only three covers, two of them written by Little Walter. Eomot plays in the style of Rice Miller, or Walter Horton. A beautiful record that comes with a warm analogue sound.

Grammy Award-nominated multi-platinum hard rock heroes, Godsmack are revving up their highly anticipated sixth full-length album, "1000hp". Once again Godsmack teamed up with producer Dave Fortman (Slipknot, Evanescence) for the album, recording it back home in their new HQ just 30 minutes from the heart of the city. The lead single off the upcoming album, 1000hp bursts out of the gate with the Boston group's signature stomp and newfound thrashed-up "punk" energy. In past centuries, almost the only way to get to know musical masterpieces from other genres than the piano, was through transcriptions. Orchestral concerts were rare. It was not so easy to hear performances. Just imagine, if you didn’t live in the same city as Bach you might have to travel by horse and carriage to hear his works and then possibly only one performance. You would have to travel far in the most uncomfortable and dangerous manner to hear a cantata. Or, in a later era, for instance a symphony. The radio and recording industry has changed everything, it’s impossible for us today to imagine what an enterprise it was!
