TajMo marks a timely convergence of the talents of two unique American artists who've already built iconoclastic individual legacies that have extended and expanded blues traditions into adventurous new territory. The collaboration brings out the best in both artists, with the pair merging their distinctive voices, personalities and guitar styles to create vibrant, immediate music that's firmly rooted in tradition yet ruled by a playful sense of adventure. The album features guest appearances by Sheila E., Joe Walsh, Lizz Wright and Bonnie Raitt, who lends her voice to a distinctive cover of John Mayer's anthemic 'Waiting on the World to Change'.

Nightfall opens with the most famous of farewells in “Auld Lang Syne”, and gently breathes new life into it, leading us into a programme that includes Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice”, the jazz standard “You Don’t Know What Love Is” and the West Side Story ballad “Somewhere”, as well as original compositions by Huw Warren and Iain Ballamy and songs from British folk tradition, in stark and moving new arrangements.

With Carla Olson and Gene Clark two extraordinary talents met. In each of the songs you can feel the bond between the two musicians. Olson's powerful singing blends wonderfully with Clark's soulful performance.

The body count on alt-J’s fourth album is high. John Moreland doesn’t have the answers, and he’s not sure anyone does. But he’s still curious, basking in the comfort of a question, and along the way, those of us listening feel moved to ask our own. “I don’t ever want to sound like I have answers, because I don’t,” he says. “These songs are all questions. Everything I write is just trying to figure stuff out.”

Jane Birkin has released an album featuring symphony versions of songs by her late collaborator Serge Gainsbourg. It’s called "Birkin/Gainsbourg: Le Symphonique". Arranged by Japanese composer Nobuyuki Nakajima and recorded by Gainsbourg producer Philippe Lerichomme, the album features new symphonic arrangements performed by the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.

Friedrich Gulda, who first attempted to play in a jazz setting in the mid-'50s after firmly establishing his classical career, is on far stronger ground on this Columbia LP recorded in early 1965…

Natalie Clein performs works for cello and orchestra by Camille Saëns. The first concerto has always been one of Saint-Saens's most popular pieces. It is a gloriously playful piece that carries the listener along on a melodic and emotional roller coaster. The second concerto is less familiar to most listeners. Extremely difficult for the soloist, Clein surmounts its challenges with the marvelous technique, musicianship and the passion for which she has become so well known.

Australian Blues guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Fiona Boyes has been recording and performing for more than 25 years, building a career that has taken her to major festivals and stages around the world. A veteran recording artist with 13 releases, she has received 5 Blues Music Award nominations in 4 different categories from the Blues Foundation in Memphis, won more than 30 Australian music awards, worldwide accolades and legions of supporters. Fiona's immersion in the rich musical and historical traditions that make up the Blues lend conviction and authenticity to both her guitar work and songwriting. Her abundant talent, artistic sincerity and musical integrity are a beacon.
