Periodically, plaintive exclamations about the death of romance are heard, but the noble art of dressing love, imagination and longing in words and tone never becomes unfashionable and lives to the highest degree.

English harpsichordist Gilbert Rowland completed the third volume in his ongoing series of the complete Suites for Harpsichord by Johann Jakob Froberger, recorded at Holy Trinity Church, Weston, Hertfordshire on 11-14 July 2022, with engineer John Taylor who produced all of Gilbert’s previous Divine Art and Athene recordings. The first two volumes of the series has attracted much praise from critics for its "glorious sound" and "energy and a good forward drive" of Rowland's playing.

Tavener's cello concerto "The Protecting Veil" is a deeply spiritual instrumental piece that puts the life and work of the Virgin Mary to music. It was premiered at the BBC Proms in 1989 with cellist Steven Isserlis, for whom Tavener had written the concerto. At the time Tavener wrote the composition he was 45 years old and had already converted to Orthodox Christian faith whose mysticism appealed to him.

Formed in 2018, Dream House Quartet fuses decades of musical mastery of classical and contemporary forms. Its members – world-renowned pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque; Grammy-winning guitarist, composer and founding member of The National Bryce Dessner; and composer, musician and producer David Chalmin – perform radical new commissions from visionary composers and key contemporary works of the last 50 years. Their first EP for DG features music by Chalmin, Dessner and Meredith Monk.

In his newest release, cellist Bion Tsang returns to Glasgow, Scotland for his second recording with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and conductor Scott Yoo. CANTABILE, available from Universal Music Group on digital platforms tomorrow, April 14, and on CD in May 2023, features two works by Tchaikovsky, Variations on a Rococo Theme (Op. 33) and Andante Cantabile (Op. 11), and Schumann's Cello Concerto, bookended by two renditions of Pablo Casals' "Song of the Birds."
