Randolph Denard Ornette Coleman (March 9, 1930 – June 11, 2015) was an American jazz saxophonist, trumpeter, violinist, and composer.

Taking place 4 times a year, the Lausanne festival has distinguished itself by its programming with singular ideas and its choice of young local performers.

A very interesting material, both in mood and instrumentation, of compositions by Gábor Juhász, performed by the Juhász Gábor Trio, Tony Lakatos (saxophone) and Júlia Karosi (vocals), with musical thoughts about the planets of the Solar System. The tape version of the Planets album was mixed live in stereo at the Digital Pro Studio, the recording location, and is pure analogue material without any post-production.

Leopold Stokowski was one of the greatest conductors of all time. Born in London on April 18, 1882, he started his musical career as an organist. In 1903, he took the post of principal organist at St. James’ Church in London, situated in a small side off the famous Piccadilly. Although only 21 years old, he became soon well-known and after two years received an offer from St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York, which he accepted enthusiastically. The congregation loved him, particularly for his uncommon musical repertoire.

'In full sail' (his original title for the second movement) could be a motto for the whole work. In this vast symphony, we hear his love of nature and beauty, Mahler's childhood memories, fragments of distant military music, birdsong and even Yiddish folk tunes as they blend together into a paean to life and hope. The work's tribute to Beethoven is seen in its architecture, as it takes cues from his idol's famous ninth symphony. The fact that Mahler's first was debuted in the Hungarian capital Budapest gives Ivan Fischer and his Budapest Festival Orchestra a unique connection to its history.
