Music Director Manfred Honeck and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, with Reference Recordings, are pleased to announce the release of a new recording in superb audiophile, pairing Tchaikovsky’s iconic Symphony No. 4 with the world premiere of leading American composer Jonathan Leshnoff’s Double Concerto for Clarinet and Bassoon, featuring the orchestra’s own Michael Rusinek, Principal Clarinet, and Nancy Goeres, Principal Bassoon.

This album by the Chastet, led by pianist Mike Hennessey, presents music from the library of Chas Burchell, the late British saxophonist and composer who founded the Chastet more than 30 years ago. The Chastet is continuing in the tradition initiated by Burchell with a bop orientated library of standards plus originals by Burchell, Benny Golson, Gerry Mulligan, Horace Silver and Hank Mobley, with the highly accomplished tenor saxophonist and clarinetist Geoff Carter having taken over from Burchell.
