Chopin wrote his Sonata in B minor, op.58 in 1844, the year in which his father died. Like its predecessor, the Sonata in B flat minor, op.35, it is cast in four movements (Allegro maestoso, Scherzo: Molto vivace, Largo and Finale: Presto non tanto), but its structure is rather more conventional and conforms more closely with the canons of the genre than the latter, probably to silence the criticisms sparked by Op.35.

For the 10th anniversary of the Label Day, Ray Lema released the album of the concert recorded in Kinshasa at the Jazzkif Festival in June 2019. Concert already legendary, the album will be available in limited edition for the day label in double vinyl and CD on April 24, 2020.

Founded by Josetxu Obregón when he was based in The Netherlands, the ensemble La Ritirata takes its name from the final movement of the famous quintet composed by Luigi Boccherini in Spain, entitled “La musica notturna delle strade di Madrid”.

To a Finland Station is an album by trumpeters Dizzy Gillespie and Arturo Sandoval recorded in 1982 and released on the Pablo label. Dizzy visited Finland 1982 to do a concert with the Finnish Studio Orchestra. By coincidence a Cuban group, led by Arturo Sandoval , was also appearing in Helsinki. Predictably, Dizzy got together with Arturo and in one all-night session that extended into the next morning, recorded this album

It took Blue Note 15 years to release this 1965 session from Wayne Shorter, his fifth album for the label. The critical consensus of the day agreed the album was well worth waiting for, however. Featuring Herbie Hancock on piano, Joe Chambers on drums and Cecil McBee on bass, the album is another showcase for Shorter's songwriting talent with four originals and a cover of the Gil Evans song "Barracudas".

We Jazz Records presents "Lonna 2019", a nautical live album bringing together recordings captured at the successful concert series at the island of Lonna just outside Helsinki in July 2019. Part 3 of their ongoing "We Jazz Live Plates" series documenting the label's live activity, "Lonna 2019" features inspired performances by Aleksi Heinola Quintet, Antti Lötjönen Quintet East and Oaagaada. Drummer Heinola's quintet and the Hämeenlinna-based quartet Oaagaada make their We Jazz Records debut with this release, while Lötjönen is releasing his debut as a leader on the label in April.

At the time, Duparc is one of the rare French singers never to perform in her mother tongue.
