    Nonlinear Estimation

    Nonlinear Estimation

Nonlinear Estimation by avin J. S. Ross
    English | PDF | 1990 | 198 Pages | ISBN : 146128001X | 21.2 MB

Non-Linear Estimation is a handbook for the practical statistician or modeller interested in fitting and interpreting non-linear models with the aid of a computer. A major theme of the book is the use of 'stable parameter systems'; these provide rapid convergence of optimization algorithms, more reliable dispersion matrices and confidence regions for parameters, and easier comparison of rival models. The book provides insights into why some models are difficult to fit, how to combine fits over different data sets, how to improve data collection to reduce prediction variance, and how to program particular models to handle a full range of data sets. The book combines an algebraic, a geometric and a computational approach, and is illustrated with practical examples. A final chapter shows how this approach is implemented in the author's Maximum Likelihood Program, MLP.

Basic Elements of Differential Geometry and Topology by S. P. Novikov , A. T. Fomenko
    English | PDF | 1990 | 499 Pages | ISBN : 0792310098 | 28.9 MB

For a number of years, beginning with the early 70's, the authors have been delivering lectures on the fundamentals of geometry and topology in the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. This text-book is the result of this work. We shall recall that for a long period of time the basic elements of modern geometry and topology were not included, even by departments and faculties of mathematics, as compulsory subjects in a university-level mathematical education. The standard courses in classical differential geometry have gradually become outdated, and there has been, hitherto, no unanimous standpoint as to which parts of modern geometry should be viewed as abolutely essential to a modern mathematical education. In view of the necessity of using a large number of geometric concepts and methods, a modernized course in geometry was begun in 1971 in the Mechanics division of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. In addition to the traditional geometry of curves and surfaces, the course included the fundamental priniciples of tensor analysis, Riemannian geometry and topology. Some time later this course was also introduced in the division of mathematics. On the basis of these lecture courses, the following text-books appeared:

Solving Frontier Problems of Physics: The Decomposition Method by George Adomian
    English | PDF | 1994 | 367 Pages | ISBN : 079232644X | 18.4 MB

The Adomian decomposition method enables the accurate and efficient analytic solution of nonlinear ordinary or partial differential equations without the need to resort to linearization or perturbation approaches. It unifies the treatment of linear and nonlinear, ordinary or partial differential equations, or systems of such equations, into a single basic method, which is applicable to both initial and boundary-value problems.

Numerical Integration of Stochastic Differential Equations by G. N. Milstein
    English | PDF | 1995 | 178 Pages | ISBN : 079233213X | 31.1 MB

U sing stochastic differential equations we can successfully model systems that func- tion in the presence of random perturbations. Such systems are among the basic objects of modern control theory. However, the very importance acquired by stochas- tic differential equations lies, to a large extent, in the strong connections they have with the equations of mathematical physics. It is well known that problems in math- ematical physics involve 'damned dimensions', of ten leading to severe difficulties in solving boundary value problems. A way out is provided by stochastic equations, the solutions of which of ten come about as characteristics.

    Handbook of Brownian Motion

    Handbook of Brownian Motion

Handbook of Brownian Motion by Andrei N. Borodin , Paavo Salminen
    English | PDF | 1996 | 478 Pages | ISBN : N/A | 23.7 MB

There are two parts in this book. The first part is devoted mainly to the proper ties of linear diffusions in general and Brownian motion in particular. The second part consists of tables of distributions of functionals of Brownian motion and re lated processes. The primary aim of this book is to give an easy reference to a large number of facts and formulae associated to Brownian motion. We have tried to do this in a "handbook-style". By this we mean that results are given without proofs but are equipped with a reference where a proof or a derivation can be found. It is our belief and experience that such a material would be very much welcome by students and people working with applications of diffusions and Brownian motion. In discussions with many of our colleagues we have found that they share this point of view. Our original plan included more things than we were able to realize. It turned out very soon when trying to put the plan into practice that the material would be too wide to be published under one cover. Excursion theory, which most of the recent results concerning linear Brownian motion and diffusions can be classified as, is only touched upon slightly here, not to mention Brownian motion in several dimensions which enters only through the discussion of Bessel processes. On the other hand, much attention is given to the theory of local time.

Inverse Problems, Tomography, and Image Processing by Alexander G. Ramm
    English | PDF | 1998 | 262 Pages | ISBN : 0306458284 | 24 MB

In this volume selected papers delivered at the special sessions on "Inverse problems" and "Tomography and image processing" are published. These sessions were organized by A. G. Ramm at the first international congress ofISAAC (International Society for Analysis, Appli- cations and Computing) which was held at the University of Delaware, June 3-7, 1997. The papers in this volume deal with a wide variety of problems including some theoretical and nu- merical problems arising in various inverse problems of interest in applications (Athanasiadis, Ramm and Stratis, Crosta, Gutman, Kamimura, Kochikov, Kuramshina and Yagola, Ramm, Yakhno, Yamamoto), in tomography (Faridani, Katsevich, Sharafutdinov), and in image pro- cessing (Lina, Schempp, Lobel, Pichot, Feraud and Barlaud, Weaver) These papers will be of interest to a wide audience including mathematicians, physicists, persons working in medical imaging, and theoretically oriented engineers.

Transaction Cost Management: Strategies and Practices for a Global Open Economy by Chihiro Suematsu
    English | PDF EPUB (Both True) | 2014 | 288 Pages | ISBN : 3319068881 | 14.3 MB

All organizations, institutions, business processes, markets and strategies have one aim in common: the reduction of transaction costs. This aim is pursued relentlessly in practice, and has been perceived to bring about drastic changes, especially in the recent global market and the cyber economy. This book analyzes and describes “transactions” as a model, on the basis of which organizations, institutions and business processes can be appropriately shaped. It tracks transaction costs to enable a scientific approach instead of a widely used “state-of-the-art” approach, working to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
