This course provides students with a comprehensive foundation in mathematics aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and prepares them for success on the 6th Grade STAAR Math assessment. The curriculum emphasizes the development of critical thinking, problem-solving strategies, and mathematical reasoning across a variety of real-world and academic contexts.Students will explore key mathematical concepts including number operations with fractions and decimals, ratios and rates, proportional reasoning, expressions and equations, geometry, measurement, and data analysis. The course encourages mathematical communication through modeling, discussion, and written explanations of problem-solving strategies.By the end of the course, students will be able to:Apply operations to positive rational numbers, including fractions and decimals.Understand and represent ratios, rates, and percent relationships.Use numerical and algebraic expressions to represent mathematical relationships.Solve one-variable equations and inequalities.Analyze and display data using various representations such as graphs and statistical measures.Explore geometric concepts including area, surface area, and volume.This course prepares students not only for the STAAR Math assessment but also for success in future math courses through the development of logical reasoning, precision, and mathematical confidence.This course will aid in boosting confidence in our scholars and will help them to know that they can succeed.
