Unknown Mortal Orchestra - SB-06 (EP) (2019)

Unknown Mortal Orchestra have capped off a winning year with 'SB-06', the latest in an annual series of epic-length festive singles delivered like a musical Santa Claus from Ruban Nielson's internationally lauded project. The nineteen minute track roams around a tonne of territory including zoned out psych-funk, locked-groove robo-boogie and meditative swirling soundscapes, yet also comes across as stylistically distinct to UMO's similarly instrumental-focussed latest collection IC-01 Hanoi. Eagle-eared listeners will note that last year's expansive 'SB-05' included alternate versions of tunes from this year's Sex & Food, so this might not be the last we hear from some of these numbers.
