Hätte sich Jacques-Philippe Lamoninary (1707-1802) wie viele seiner in der französischen Provinz geborenen Kollegen (darunter z.B. auch Rameau) dazu entschieden, sein Glück in der Metropole Paris zu versuchen, er wäre dank der Qualität seiner Musik heute sicherlich bekannter. So beschränkte er sich auf eine regionale Karriere in Nordfrankreich und fiel nach seinem Tod der Vergessenheit anheim. Mit dieser Aufnahme möchte das Ensemble Hemiolia diesen brillanten und auch rätselhaften Komponisten würdigen, dessen Musik vom ersten Ton an zu einer Entdeckungsreise einlädt.

Does anyone know the violinist Jacques-Philippe Lamoninary, who was born in northern France at the beginning of the 18th century? Despite his fairly regional career, Lamoninary knew plenty about the numerous Italian composers who were in vogue in France around 1750. He perfectly mastered the art of composing sonatas for two violins and bass in the Italian style, as his first three opera reveal. He can therefore be associated with the French school of composition, which was clearly inspired by Italy, but also by Rameau. With this recording, the Ensemble Hemiolia with violinist Emmanuel Resche-Caserta wishes to pay tribute to this brilliant and enigmatic composer, whose music invites us to a voyage of discovery from the very first note.
