In 2007/08, the Swiss cellist Christian Poltéra made his debut at BIS with a series of albums dedicated to three compatriots: the composers Othmar Schoeck, Arthur Honegger and Frank Martin.

The unconventional programs combined chamber music and orchestral works with a focus on the cello and were enthusiastically received by the international music press. "An ideal introduction to Martin's music", the reviewer raved in Gramophone, where this publication was named "Editor's Choice", while the Schoeck anthology was described in the American Record Guide as "a beautifully played collection that fills an important gap", and the French magazine Diapason awarded the Honegger CD its Diapason d'or, calling it "une pure merveille".

The reviews of all three recordings particularly highlighted the orchestral accompaniment by the Malmö Symphony Orchestra and Tuomas Hannikainen, as well as the respective advantages of the three concerts: "a nostalgic, dark-lyrical quality that ensures captivating listening pleasure" (Schoeck, International Record Review); "a typically elegant, refined score with a surprisingly tart, but rousing rhythmic finale" (Martin, BBC Music Magazine); "wonderful, jazzy melodies …, a lot of fireworks for the soloist and a wealth of contrasts in a quarter of an hour of playing time“ (Honegger, ClassicsToday.com ).

These three works, which were composed between 1929 and 1966 and are rarely heard today, have now been combined – an opportunity that should not be missed by anyone who is interested in very individual cello scores of the 20th century or wants to get to know one of the most impressive young cellists of the present day.
