Description
The B Corp standard is an increasingly popular accreditation awarded to companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. There are now nearly 10,000 B Corp companies across 102 countries, and that number has grown rapidly in recent years.
The B Corp standard is managed by the non-profit organisation B Lab in conjunction with 15 partner organisations around the world. To achieve the standard, companies have to show ethical performance and positive impacts in seven areas of their business including governance, climate action, working conditions, human rights and environmental stewardship.
In this course, we explore what B Corp status means and how it is achieved. The B Corp assessment standard was revised in 2025, and this course covers the new requirements. Topics covered include:
• The background to the B Corp standard and the benefits of certification.
• Criticisms that have been raised relating to the standard
• The changes in the B Corp standard for the 2025 revision
• How company size, location and sector impact the assessment for B Corp status
• The seven areas covered by the B Corp assessment
• The B Corp assessment, evaluation and verification processes
