13. Ransomwared

Every manager’s worst nightmare, a complete shutdown of the company due to a cyber-attack known as ransomware. In this book Erik Westhovens and Mike Jansen describe a fictionalized scenario for FiveStar Inc. where management scrambles to deal with an infiltrated IT environment while at the same time the hackers cause chaos and confusion to maximize fear, to get their victim to pay the ransom. All events described are based on real world situations and follow the twelve steps of the Advanced Persistent Threat Lifecycle model, while also paying attention to some of the techniques hackers employ to gain entrance and persistence.
